About The Ocean Reef Foundation
Our Mission Statement
The Ocean Reef Foundation is an independent, charitable, and not-for-profit
organization.
It was established to enhance responsible and effective philanthropy throughout
the community.
Our History
The abiding spirit of charity, and a desire to maximize the impact of
giving, motivated Ocean Reef members to establish the Ocean Reef Foundation
in 1994. The Foundation’s mission is two-fold: to encourage
and administer philanthropy to benefit effective projects and charities
throughout Ocean Reef and the surrounding area; and to work with members
to meet their individual charitable goals, establish a legacy, and connect
to the causes you care about most.
Perhaps it is the wonderful quality of life at Ocean Reef that has inspired
those who enjoy it to share their good fortune since its very beginnings. The
generosity of many individuals has, in fact, been instrumental in building
the very heart of our community. Our Academy, Chapel, Medical
Center, Cultural Center and more are all achievements of our residents’ own
philanthropic efforts.
In 2008, the Foundation joined together with the Combined Charities of
Ocean Reef to introduce the Ocean Reef Foundation Auction Day, an innovative
event that eliminated multiple fundraising auctions and enables members
to consolidate their support for the entire community in a single day of
festive events each year. The response to this groundbreaking approach
has been overwhelming, and the annual event continues to distinguish our
community each February.
In addition to benefitting charities community-wide, the auction events
benefit the Foundation’s Community Grants Fund, which awards dozens
of meaningful grants each year to relevant and worthy local organizations
supporting education, youth and families, arts, culture and the environment
beyond our gates.
