Grant Guidelines
GEOGRAPHICAL AREA:
A) Within the confines of Ocean Reef Club
B) Outside the gate, with Ocean Reef Club involvement
1. Key Largo
2. Florida City
3. Homestead
C) Other needs by exception
AREAS OF INTEREST:
Education to include support for programs in preschool, secondary and post secondary education, education issues, and to help children with special needs.
Youth program areas for youth include child development, youth development, and youth leadership development.
Community projects that generate an increased level of volunteerism, increased cooperation and new leadership.
Arts & Culture projects that encourage and stimulate the arts and historic preservation to include the support of programs and facilities which are designed to establish diversified cultural programs that offer widespread opportunities for participation and recreation.
Health projects that generate activity in providing quality health care throughout our geographical area served.
Environment projects that will help protect or enhance the environment that must support our life systems over the next century and beyond.
We are particularly interested in innovative approaches to solving community problems and maximizing unexpected opportunities. The Foundation will show preference for funding areas that relate directly or indirectly to the Ocean Reef employee base.
The Grants Committee may also, from time to time, identify other specific areas for special consideration when emerging needs in our community require extraordinary attention.
PROJECTS NOT FUNDED WITH GENERAL FUNDS:
· Individuals
Eight Reasons· Ordinary Grants are not made to add to endowment or memorial funds.
· Projects outside the geographic boundaries set under these guidelines.
· Projects that are normally fully funded by units of local government.
· Religious activities or programs that serve predominantly one denomination.
· Political organizations or campaigns.
PROGRAM PRIORITIES:
1. Identify and address an immediate community need.
2. Improve the ability of the organization to serve the community over the long term.
3. Are run by non-profit organizations.
4. Programs in which the Foundation is likely to have a significant impact.
KEY FEATURES:
- Applications are accepted at any time during the year and funds are disbursed annually. Grant applications must be submitted no later than January 10th of each grant year. Applications received after January 10th will be held for the following grant year. Applications are read and representatives of the Foundation may schedule a site visit if applicable. Final grant decisions are made in March with distribution no later than April
- Applying organization must be classified as a tax-exempt entity under Section 501 (c) (3) of the IRS code guidelines.
Applicants are required to complete the “Grant Application” form. A copy of your organization’s 501 (c) (3) IRS tax exemption letter (or) applicable IRS tax status information, a mission statement, if any; brochure; printed material.
